BE PART OF ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING TEAM CHALLENGES IN THE UK. Join Action Medical Research’s Three Peaks Challenge 2010 climbing the three highest peaks in Britain - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. It is tough but achievable with training and careful planning. Many teams will aim to complete the challenge in 24 hours or less. It is a physically and mentally demanding team event that tests the best. Teams are made up of four to six people - at least three climbers and a driver - who must walk, climb or scramble to the summit of each mountain, travelling by road between the three peaks. The maximum number of climbers (walkers) per team is strictly limited to FIVE. Teams provide their own team vehicle and driver for the challenge.
Action Medical Research’s 11th Three Peaks Challenge starts at the foot of Ben Nevis in the spectacularly beautiful setting of the Scottish Highlands. It finishes at the foot of Mount Snowdon in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. In between teams will visit Scafell in the Lake District and be tested to the limit ascending and descending the three mountains - Ben Nevis at 4,409 ft, Scafell Pike at 3,206 ft and Snowdon at 3,560 ft. Team members will have to cope with changing clothes, eating, drinking and sleeping as they travel to their next destination by road. And there is an extra special challenge built-in - teams must take the charity’s mascot Paddington Bear up and down each mountain.
ACTION MEDICAL RESEARCH'S 10th Three Peaks Challenge over the weekend of 11/12th July 2009 was a huge success despite some challenging weather at Snowdon. The fastest team time for the challenge - including drive times - was 19hrs 50mins. This was achieved by the team F5 NETWORKS whose team members were John Fretwell, Simon Tolchard, Chris Harris, Maxine Shergold, Wendy Crisp and Matthew Davies. Their climb time was 9hrs 38mins. They were also the fastest mixed team with one female climber.
