Meet The Team
Ann Frampton Director of Action for Charity & Dream Challenges

Ann co-founded Action for Charity in 1999 after ten very successful years working in the charity sector. Ann continues to have the same energy and enthusiasm as the day she started Action for Charity. She has proved that you are never too old to think about taking on new challenges in life whether it be a trek, cycle or team challenge. Ann is very proud that she has inspired thousands of men and women from across the UK to take up challenges all around the world.

She has also completed the London Marathon, cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End and in 2008 joined Ben Fogle on one of his Extreme Dream challenges in Peru, which was filmed by the BBC.

Her favourite event is Cycle Cuba as she loves the music, dancing and cocktails (and the cycling of course!)

Calum Frampton Director of Action for Charity & Dream Challenges

Calum joined Action for Charity in 2003 after completing his Business Studies degree and is responsible for the marketing and promotion of our challenges. If you signed up for a challenge after receiving a letter or e-mail or saw an advert - you can hold Calum responsible!

Calum is a keen footballer in his spare time, although will be the first to admit he is well past it now! He has travelled extensively both on Action for Charity challenges and in his free time. His favourite event is Cycle India - great people, great food and fascinating culture.

Mike Hughson Director of Dream Challenges

Mike has 15 years senior level experience working for charities. It is this experience that provides him with an understanding of challenge events from the charity's perspective. He has vast experience in developing new event ideas and has project managed numerous fundraising challenge events.

Mike is a very keen trekker and his interest in travel has taken him all over the world. Mike also has a passion for rugby and after hanging up his boots he became heavily involved in coaching and mentoring junior players. In 2006 Mike organised a tour to South Africa and was instrumental in raising £35K to fund the trip, which included a £10K donation to township schools and junior rugby teams in the region.

Susan joined Action for Charity in 2006 after working in media management within the yacht racing industry for some 15 years. During that time she travelled extensively around the world. She is the main point of contact for participants on all Action for Charity challenges. In the unlikely event that she doesn't have an immediate answer to a query she soon will have being the Google queen! Susan is passionate about cooking (and eating) and is a very keen skier with Canada being her favourite destination.

Abigail Harvey Finance Manager

Abigail has worked for Action for Charity from the very start and is our longest serving member of staff. Abigail is responsible for processing all of the charitable funds (£11 million to date!) and also manages the company's finances.

Jeanette has a passion for travel and the great outdoors and is currently in training for her first Action for Charity challenge in Cuba this year!

In her spare time Jeanette loves to travel - she has also been heavily involved in organising fundraising events such as the Solent Cycle challenge to raise funds for Hope and Aid Direct.

Sarah Perry Challenge Leader

Sarah studied French and Russian at Nottingham University where she rowed and cycled, soon realising that she had inherited both her dad's strong legs and his inability to feel the cold!

Sarah is one of the luckiest people around having travelled extensively in China, East and West Africa, the Middle East and a good number of strange Stans. She also worked for a while in Siberia (it was cold!) and Delhi (it was hot!) but now lives in Edinburgh where she enjoys cycling, sea swimming and eating cake!

For the last eight years Sarah has designed, recced and led trekking, climbing, cycling and husky sledding events around the world. She is very proud of the fact that she has never worked indoors!

Dawa Geljen Sherpa Challenge Leader

Dawa is our challenge leader in Nepal. He is a qualified mountaineering guide and has been leading treks and expeditions for over 25 years. Born in Lukla, Dawa has an impressive climbing record in the Himalaya including expeditions to Everest. Being a local, Dawa has extensive knowledge of the areas we trek through so you will be assured of a warm welcome wherever you stay.

Dawa is a trustee of Classrooms in the Clouds - a project we have the opportunity to visit on our Everest Base Camp Trek.

Helen Littlejohn Challenge Leader

Helen first gained a taste for travel and expeditions during the early 1990's, leading conservation groups, adventure holidays and more recently for the Duke of Edinburgh award. She has travelled extensively, visiting almost 40 countries on 5 continents. Tibet, Morocco and New Zealand rate amongst her favourite destinations.

As a qualified mountain leader, she brings an impressive CV of qualifications to the role and a love of the outdoors. When not leading groups she enjoys kayaking, cycling, sailing and open water swimming near her home on the south coast.

Dr Julia Martin Expedition Medical Consultant

Julia has provided medical support on over thirty charity challenges since 2000. These include a mix of trekking and cycling events in a variety of environments from deserts to high altitude mountain trips. Julia has cycled in places such as Vietnam, Cambodia and Namibia and has trekked to Everest Base Camp and reached the top of Kilimanjaro. Her favourite challenge though has to be the Patagonia trek.

When Julia isn't globetrotting she splits her time between general practice and hospital work.

Dr Sneh Khemka Challenge Doctor

Dr Sneh Khemka (left) qualified from Edinburgh medical school in 1999 and has since gone on to pursue a number of interests both in and out of medicine. He qualified as a surgeon in 2004 and throughout his career Sneh has been working as an expedition medic for a variety of companies and charitable organisations.

He has been involved in an array of trips, ranging from cycling across Mexico, Cuba and Vietnam to trekking the Inca Trail and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. He has also worked on husky trails in Lapland and horse treks in Mongolia.

In other roles he has worked for the British Diplomatic Service and you may have seen him working as a TV doctor. Sneh is one of our event doctors and looks forward to meeting you on future challenges.

James Hardy Trek Leader

James organises and leads the training weekends for our overseas trekking challenges.

James has been involved in caving expeditions in central America and has travelled extensively in Asia, South America, Europe and Africa. His highlights have been climbing Kilimanjaro, walking across the Rift Valley with Masai tribesman, the Galapagos and dog sledding in the Arctic Circle.

His other interests include horse riding and photography.

Trish Cowie Cycle Training Event Coordinator

Trish became involved with Action for Charity after taking part in a number of our challenge events around the world. In the process she raised several thousands of pounds for a number of excellent causes.

Trish is a qualified risk assessor and first responder as well as an accomplished cyclist. She coordinates all our cycle training weekends and is also an important member of our UK adventure challenge event support team.

Trish is currently in training to take on our first Women V Cancer cycle challenge in Kenya to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

Ed Sadler Cycle Training Event Support Team

Ed is a key part of our cycling training weekend team. He is our lead cyclist for the weekends and a fantastic bike mechanic. He is a bike junkie and will offer you some excellent cycling tips over your training weekend. He will also be more than happy to adjust your bike for you so it is set up to maximise your efficency.

In his spare time Ed loves to cycle and often enters competitions. He has also taken part in many charity bike rides (some dressed as a gorilla!)

Reg Cycle Training Event Support Team

Reg and his trusty red van have become a big part of our cycling training weekends! Reg drives our support vehicle for the training weekends, marks the junctions for us and he has become a bit of a legend in the process!

In all seriousness Reg is key to the success of our training weekends and participants are often very disappointed to hear that Reg and his red van won't be going on their challenge!
